张亭举，生于安徽省阜阳县，毕业于陆军官校24期。曾任海军陆战队中将副司令，后任台北市荣民服务处处长。自退辅会退休后，任高雄退伍军人协会会长、陆战队退伍军人协会会长等服务职位、新同盟会副总会长及高雄分会会长。

张将军一生外向，乐观进取，以无小我的中华文化为其性格背景。退休后任高雄退伍军人协会会长、陆战队退伍军人协会会长等服务职位，免费协助退伍长官或部属往生事宜，深受尊重。他同时任新同盟会副总会长（会长是许歴农上将）及高雄分会会长，期间多次访问大陆。于民国107年6月因腹痛至高雄荣总就医，诊断出盲肠癌并腹膜转移，住院两个多月便撤手人环，在意识清醒之时，告诉家人，打败它、杀掉癌症，毫无惧色。得年86岁。
